Curved-ribbon-based track modelling for minimum lap-time optimisation

چکیده

Abstract Three-dimensional road models for vehicular minimum-lap-time manoeuvring are typically based on curvilinear coordinates and generalizations of the Frenet–Serret formulae. These describe as a parametrized ‘ribbon’, which can be described in terms three curvature variables. In this abstraction is assumed laterally flat. While class appropriate many situations, not always case. research we extend laterally-flat ribbon-type model to include lateral curvature. This accommodates case camber change across track. Lateral-position-dependent introduced generalisation that required some race tracks. A track with constructed using high-resolution LiDAR measurement data. ideas demonstrated NASCAR raceway, characterized by large changes angle ( $$\approx 10^\circ$$ ? 10 ? ) parts free-trajectory optimization employed solve optimal control problem. The calculations highlight practically observed importance variations.

Heuristic based track maintenance scheduling optimisation

The maintenance of railway track is highly relevant for the service quality and safety. This task demands huge technical and human resources. Therefore an optimal deployment of the available resources is crusial for the cost-effectiveness of railway operation. Furthermore, the track geometry maintenance activities need to be planned up to two years in advance. For this reason the French railway...

Model Based Method for Determining the Minimum Embedding Dimension from Solar Activity Chaotic Time Series

Predicting future behavior of chaotic time series system is a challenging area in the literature of nonlinear systems. The prediction's accuracy of chaotic time series is extremely dependent on the model and the learning algorithm. On the other hand the cyclic solar activity as one of the natural chaotic systems has significant effects on earth, climate, satellites and space missions. Several m...

Minimum-time speed optimisation over a fixed path

In this paper we investigate the problem of optimising the speed of a vehicle over a fixed path for minimum time traversal. We utilise a change of variables that has been known since the 1980s, although the resulting convexity of the problem was not noted until recently. The contributions of this paper are three fold. First, we extend the convexification of the problem to a more general framewo...

Integrating Optimisation And Agent-Based Modelling

A key strength of agent-based modelling is the ability to explore the upward-causation of micro-dynamics on the macro-level behaviour of a system. However, in policy contexts, it is also important to be able to represent downward-causation from the macro and mesolevels to the micro, and to represent decision-making at the macro level (i.e., by governments) in a sensible way. Though we cannot mo...

Optimisation Modelling for Software Developers

Software developers are an ideal channel for the distribution of Constraint Programming (CP) technology. Unfortunately, including even basic optimisation functionality in an application currently requires the use of an entirely separate paradigm with which most software developers are not familiar. We suggest an alternative interface to CP designed to overcome this barrier, and describe a proto...
